Broad Run Recycling and Sparta Manufacturing:
A Lasting Partnership
Broad Run Recycling
Having operated a successful roll-off company for over 10 years, IDS Disposal president Kevin Herb began to notice around 2002 that times were changing in the C&D waste disposal industry.
Not only were landfill disposal costs climbing each month, but opportunity was also arising in the area of recycling construction materials themselves.
Also, at the same time, green building programs such as L.E.E.D (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) were being implemented in the new construction arena, which calls on builders to recycle various parts of the their demolition waste.
“I realized that there was value in creating a recycling centre that would not only make us competitive, but also help minimize our impact on the environment”, says Herb.
While searching for manufacturers that could assist in the business planning for this venture, Kevin was eventually referred to Bruno Lagacé from Sparta.
“From the very start, we were very impressed with the levels of knowledge, follow-through, and support received.” adds Herb. “We definitely made the right decision.”
Today, thanks to Sparta and their engagement throughout the entire start-up process, Broad Run Recycling now operates a 26,000 sq. ft. indoor recycling facility that can process up to 1,500 tons of waste material per day and capable of recovering up to 75% of it, depending on the situation.
“Without a doubt, I would strongly recommend them to anyone considering entering into C&D recycling”.
